FOR THE DENTIST

 



A MULTI-SYSTEM IMPLANTOLOGY COURSE will be repeated in its twelfth year during the 2008-2009 academic year starting on 19th November 2008 at Trafford General Hospital in Manchester.

Course Venue: Trafford General Hospital, Manchester UK (Day Surgery Unit theatres at Oaklands Hospital & Education Centre at Trafford General Hospital)

Course Duration: one day per month (either a Tuesday or a Wednesday each month) for 12 months, starting on 19th November 2008 (ending in November 2009).

Course Requirements: GDC registration and professional medical insurance

Number of GDPs Trained: to date we have trained more than 600 GDPs both in restorative and/or surgical aspects of dental implantology.

Advanced Courses: Part time Diploma/MSc degree programmes in dental implantology are available for those who have completed a year/certificate course or equivalent with basic clinical experience in implant dentistry.

 

 



Applications are invited for a part-time, hospital based, clinical year course (one day per month) starting on 19th November 2008.

The emphasis of this unbiased multi-system course is to teach dental practitioners (UK residents only) how to incorporate implant treatment to their practices safely with confidence and the back up of three most documented implant systems. The course will suit especially those who have been on introductory lectures but now wish to update their knowledge and gain practical experience in this revolutionary branch of dentistry. It will also be an invaluable opportunity for those who are contemplating, or in the process of, moving into private dental practice.

The current course (Multi-system Implantology Certificate Course /Trafford General) “is approved by FGDP(UK) for accreditation of CPD hours and complies with GDC verifiable CPD requirements” (for 60 hrs verifiable CPD in total)

COURSE CONTENTS

This course will offer clinical involvement with 3 major implant systems which have the most documented long term clinical and experimental data obtained over 20 to 30 years. You will be taught the principles of patient assessment & treatment planning, implant selection criteria, and surgical & restorative treatment protocols for achieving optimum functional & cosmetic results according to each individual patient`s clinical needs and requirements. The course is designed for practitioners who wish to provide both surgical & restorative or just restorative implant treatment stages. All aspects of implantology will be covered;

Seminars, lectures, tutorials
Hands-on practical sessions with major implant systems
Literature review
Surgical & restorative principles of implantology

During the course patients requiring implant therapy will be treated to demonstrate the following treatment modalities, in a stage by stage manner;

Single tooth replacements; partial and full arch reconstructions
New simplified implant treatment components & protocols
Immediate implant placement & loading principles
Guided Bone Regeneration (GBR), localised ridge augmentation
Autonegous graft harvesting, sinus augmentation techniques
Implant/bar retained overdenture treatment
Soft tissue procedures such as vestibuloplasty and connective tissue grafting.
Flap design in implant surgery
Multi-disciplinary treatment planning incorporating, endodontics, orthodontics, restorative dentistry etc.
Principles of occlusion in implant dentistry
All stages of restorative implant treatment; assessment, diagnosis, stent construction, prosthesis design, provisional restorations etc.
